“Is it right to step away from a couple in crisis?”

Q I’m part of a group of friends who met when we all had babies seven years ago. We socialise together, along with our partners, but one couple is currently going through a rough patch, and the way they speak to each other is horrible. It’s so uncomfortable that my partner now refuses to go out with them. If I’m honest, I’m relieved he’s taking a stand, but part of me feels they really need their friends right now.
