Club Activities Focus on Memories and Recovery

A reflective “This Month in History” feature column – “Two Prominent Members Lost” – was offered up in the October 2021 issue of the (Ontario, Canada) by editor Peter Becker. One of them was Bruce Raszmann, who served as club treasurer for 50 years, before retiring in 2010 and passing away on Sept. 6, 2021. “Although there are other members who have passed away since I first joined W.C.S. in 1988 who are still fondly remembered,” Becker commented, “few have left an impression on me such as [Raszmann did].” Affectionately known as “old money bags” by the membership for the frugal attention he accorded the club’s funds, Raszmann held the “purse strings tight” and kept a close eye on expenses.
