HDS LIVE 12 INSTALL

THE installation of a new Lowrance HDS Live system can easily be achieved by the average boat owner and you really don’t need to be a certified electrician in order to complete the task safely and accurately. Of course if you’re not at all confident with this sort of stuff then it goes without saying that you should leave it to the professionals. But for those keen on having a crack to save a few bucks and achieve some self-satisfaction through a bit of home DIY this is a basic run down of how I went about it on our fibreglass hull.

REMOVAL TIME

Despite initially appearing to be a fairly quick and easy job the removal of the old sounder system actually proved to be the most labour-intensive part of the whole changeover process. It’s amazing how the various modcons and accumulation of extra wires over the years can actually cause a headache or two down the track when no real long term planning has gone into the decisions at the time.
