MAXIMIZE YOUR VOCABULARY

I once watched a wonderful exchange between the Oscar-winning actor Tom

Hanks and the star of the Marvel franchise, Tom Holland, where the actors discussed a speech exercise formulated from repetitions. The objective was simple: Ask the same question using different vocabulary. The question was simply “Would you like more coffee?”

Holland’s first response was “Coffee? Boy, do I need more coffee!”, but then he was required to repeat the process using different words. “Would you like more coffee?” Hanks asks. “Yes please, Mr. Hanks, I need some more coffee!” The process repeats, stretching Holland’s vocabulary.
