My Top Shot

An entire generation of photographers credits apps such as Instagram with piquing their interest in the field. When, a self-portrait taken in the east of Hong Kong Island just before sunset last year, Lo contrasts dense high-rises stretching as far as the eye can see with the freedom and space of the wilderness that lies beyond. “It means a lot to me,” Lo says. “Firstly, this is a breathtaking view of my home from atop the mountain. Its message is about walking through the uncertainties, while keeping an optimistic mind: while the background seems to be blanketed by a layer of mist or haze, the subject is clear, and [they are] hopeful about getting through it.”
