Grieving Together

he first time Angela Melvin visited a center intended to help grieving children, she cried. She recalls, named after her mother. “The dream is, no child grieves alone, no family grieves alone,” she explains. Her non-profit organization groups families together, leads support group discussions, and offers activities in art, music, and journaling designed to help with healing. Since its founding in 2016, it has expanded to locations in Naples and Cape Coral and seeks to increase outreach in schools. In addition to licensed clinicians, the organization’s staff includes people who have experienced grief and understand how to assist families. Melvin adds, “Helping other people that have gone through it keeps my mom alive and well every day.” ()
