Test fleet: Kawasaki Versys 1000 S Grand Tourer

They say it’s better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all. True, perhaps, but still a bummer when you have to hand a bike like the Versys 1000 S Grand Tourer back to Kawasaki.

The Versys ticked pretty much every box in terms of what I look for in a motorcycle. It’s plenty fast enough for my middle-aged needs, it handles well, it stops well, it’s practical, it’s comfortable and, best of all, it can be transformed from a big, gentle tourer into a much sportier machine simply by removing the luggage and flipping over to ‘Sport’ mode.

On top of all that, reliability
