ROUND UP
he big TV release this month is (out now, Blu-ray/DVD). We said: “At first there’s a welcome energy to its narrative whirl, but things soon (Blu-ray/DVD, out now), the Addamses embark on an aimless road trip around America in their supersized campervan. Daughter Wednesday (Chloë Grace Moretz) steals the show again. We said: “There’s little to hold together the haphazard antics in Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon and so on, and little to keep our interest.” Three bonus features introduce the voice cast, offer a road trip checklist, and explain why it’s “okay to be different”. Phew. Finally, German mystery (out now, Blu-ray) is more Volk Horror than Folk Horror. After a woman’s nightmares lead her to a hotel where she receives a paralysing shock, her daughter investigates, unearthing an idyllic village’s dark history. We said: “Has a strong hook, decent dream-trickery jolts, and some interesting characters.” Arrow Video’s package includes critical commentary, a director/star conversation, two visual essays, an interview with a dream analyst, a poster and more.
