Rising Prophet

FOLLOWING IN Deadpool’s footsteps, Prophet could soon become the latest of Rob Liefeld’s creations to hit the big screen. Jake Gyllenhaal is poised to play the lead role of super-soldier John Prophet, directed by Extraction’s Sam Hargrave and scripted by Arrow’s Marc Guggenheim.

Drawn by Dan Panosian, was the second of Liefeld’s burgeoning in 1992. “The reason why I left Marvel when I did was that I thought the opportunity was there at that time, as comics were reaching an apex in terms of the audience and the largest number of eyeballs,” Liefeld tells Red Alert. “So I wanted to start building my own universe, as I’d kind of built a pocket universe with all the characters I’d introduced at the X-office. I figured that this was the time to get out and make those stories and to build my own catalogue.”
