My dad and his Dodge

I enjoyed the article, “Me and my car”, in go! #178. This is my dad, Dawie Koch (81), with his favourite vehicle – a 1963 Dodge 330 – among the yellow canola fields on his farm Melkhoutdrift near Heidelberg in the Western Cape.

My dad worked as a Nissan dealer for many years and has a real love of cars. He’s the third owner of this Dodge – he bought it in 2003 for R36 000. It was built in the Chrysler plant in Elsies River in Cape Town; the 325th vehicle produced there.

Despite its age, it’s in great condition – my dad often goes on vintage car tours and to the Old Car Show in George. The car is also sometimes used for weddings and
