In November 2023, we visited Sand River Bush Camp in the Kruger Park. It’s near Skukuza and run by the SANParks Honorary Rangers.

One afternoon we came across this leopard with its catch outside the camp. Hyenas were waiting for scraps below the tree and the impala’s lamb was hiding in a bush nearby.We took photos from the safety of our vehicle until the leopard left – look at that intense stare!

We returned to the scene the next morning on one of our guided walks and only the impala carcass was left. What an amazing experience!

Spring is in the details

Most photos taken in Namaqualand in spring show fields and fields of yellow, pink and orange flowers. But anyone who has actually stood there in a field of wildflowers will tell you it’s something that no wide-angle photograph can capture.
