The story of my blues: Part 2

BECAUSE the blue mutation is a true blue, with the same inheritance as the blue in budgerigars, it is possible by crossing with a lutino to produce a pure white albino ring-neck. This is the test in colour mutations to prove that the blue is a pure colour. In splendid grass parakeets (Neophema splendida), and in some other birds, the blue mutations are not pure and, therefore, no pure white albino splendid has yet been produced.

I am not sure why I am so drawn to this blue ring-neck mutation – but I am! It is, without doubt, a beautiful colour and as their feather condition is often described as “immaculate” I am sure that is one
