When Giant told me a new Revolt was appearing this winter, I was a little apprehensive as to where it would be taking a gravel bike whose previous guises had been so impressive. I’d enjoyed riding the 2021 Advanced 1 so much that I’d convinced Cycling Plus’s art editor Steve – on the lookout for a gravel bike – to buy it. So what’s changed? This latest model has a chassis that’s 200g lighter; new, lightweight, gravel-specific carbon wheels and Shimano’s criminally underused (at least on complete bikes) twin-chainring GRX Di2.
