I’ve always thought that the biggest issue with the whole gravel bike genre is how it can mean such different things to so many different people.

Gravel bikes can include everything from Genesis’s Vagabond – with every fixture and fitting you could think of to carry everything you’d need for an epic, long-distance multi-day adventure – to Cervélo’s Áspero, a stripped-down racing bike built for gravel racing. Then there’s our current gravel bike of the year, Cannondale’s Topstone Lefty. This is effectively a full-suspension gravel bike capable of getting you a very, very long way off the beaten track.
