common activity in acting classes is having to typecast yourself. I remember doing this exercise when I was about 14. We went around the room and people named roles they could see themselves doing, others would suggest actors for you as well. Everyone had a bunch of people, but when it got to me, no-one could think of anyone. At the time, there really weren’t many plus-size actresses, with Kathy Bates, because she could see me doing that role. I hadn’t, so I went and watched it and it was a huge moment for me. It was amazing to see Kathy play such an interesting, terrifying role. It stuck with me because it made me realise there are cool roles out there for people like me.
