WARNING BELLS

Watching Big Ben strike on New Year’s Eve 2018, I cheered with the rest of my family.

My dad Fred, 81, sister Alison, 48, and mum Carol, 79, all sat beside me.

With each strike, I had an overwhelming feeling that the next year was going to be the worst one of my life.

For a reason I couldn’t put my finger on, my mind filled with dread.

Over Christmas, I had noticed a small amount of blood when I went to the toilet.

Coupled with excruciating stomach pain.

I thought it could have been all the rich food I had indulged in over the last week.

However, waking up on New Year’s Day, I saw a pool of blood on my bedsheets.

Calling my local GP surgery, I explained my problems.
