Sales of vitamin D supplements have been soaring, along with the hope that having higher levels in the blood may bring health benefits, including protecting against invasive cancers, maintaining stronger bones and even decreasing appetite, making weight loss easier. As medical research progresses, it is becoming increasingly clear that more vitamin D is not necessarily better, but low levels can be harmful.
