It is easy to take good health for granted. Mobility, hearing, and sight are basic functions that most of us assume on a daily basis, but there are people in our community who aren’t so fortunate. Here in Australia approximately 18 per cent of our population is diagnosed with a disability, with 6 per cent classified as being severe.

It is highly likely that most of us will have a health issue at some stage in life – whether mild or severe, physical or mental – which may have the capacity to lessen our mobility or motivation. My Mum was in a serious car accident 20 years ago – she survived thankfully but life has never been the same for her since. And it’s a recurring story for lots of people around our country, where accidents and sickness are a fact of life.
