SIMPLE AND EASY

A propagator is a container that helps to maintain a good environment for seeds to germinate and young plants to grow. Propagators can vary in size from something to suit a single pot, to a large structure that can raise all the plants that you need for a greenhouse. A propagator isn’t essential for vegetable growing, but if you want to raise heat-sensitive plants from seed, it is a very useful piece of equipment.

At its simplest, a clear plastic bag over the top of a pot will make a simple propagation space – this prevents compost from drying out too fast, provides some protection against temperature fluctuations and keeps pests away from emerging seedlings.

A larger propagation box can hold a steady temperature more efficiently since there is a larger mass to heat
