UNDER COVER CROPPING

I’ve always had a bit of a thing for growing crops under cover; back in the Stone Age that was the subject I studied at college and also where I did my apprenticeship. I’ve had a soft spot for greenhouses and polytunnels ever since.

Installing a greenhouse or polytunnel in your garden or on your allotment represents a significant investment in terms of space and cash (unless you are lucky enough to find one second-hand), so you’ll want to be sure it is worth it. I hope to persuade you that it is!

GREENHOUSE OR TUNNEL?

When looking for your under cover haven you’ll first have to decide whether a greenhouse or polytunnel is for you. Greenhouses tend to be more expensive, but not necessarily so, although if you are looking for something to give you a big growing space, then a tunnel is likely to be much more cost effective.
