Walking foot quilting allows you to experiment with various threads and different designs to create interesting patterns and textures using straight lines. Once you get the hang of this useful technique you can then use your new-found walking foot quilting skills to add an extra dimension to your quilted projects – perfect for quilts, placemats or coasters

MARKING AND PLANNING YOUR DESIGN

1 Temporarily mark your fabric to guide your stitch lines. If you are using a Hera marker, you may want to wait until your quilt is basted to mark it, as the lines will show up more clearly after this. For pens and chalk it is easier to mark the fabric when it is on a hard surface. Use a quilting ruler so that you can make sure the lines are straight and that all are evenly spaced out.
