AUSTIN MONTEGO ESTATE PART 7
Introduction
You may recall that way back in the Spring 2020 issue, long before we had even started serialising the work on our Montego project, I asked if any readers could help us source some plastic clips that went around the nearside rear window and secured the plastic trim to the body. There were two types that appeared very similar but not identical – white ones under the window and black ones going up the pillar on the D-post at the back of the car.
Amazingly, we had two very kind and generous offers from readers. First, retired mechanic John Dowson got in touch to say that he has a Montego Countryman Estate which he has owned from new. This car has been maintained regardless of cost, and its mileage was at that point just coming up to 400,000. John also has a shed full of new parts collected over 26 years, and these included the Thanks to both gents for their kind offers.
