T took years for South Africans to realise that the olive oil produced in our country not only stands up to those produced in the rest of the world but is often much better. In those days we were still prepared to pay a premium for inferior olive oil just because it came from Spain or Italy. It was only when South African olive oils started to clean up at the international awards shows that we began to take them seriously.
