can’t believe it’s 2022, can you? It often feels to me as if 2010 wasn’t all that long ago. I sometimes wonder where the past 12 years have gone, and, looking back, I now reminisce about how much easier life was then, in so do is look for ways in which we can bring some element of stability in our own worlds; to create our own sense of order our of the chaos. To do that, it necesitates a degree of commitment and a sense of discipline. While no one likes to be told what to do or when to do it, if we can create our own rules, no matter how small, we can take charge of a portion of our lives, helping to engender a sense of control. We can find a sense of comfort from routines and habits; this might be a regular fitness routine done either alone or online with others; or switching off from work at a set time each evening, then gifting ourselves 30 precious minutes to cosy up, read and relax; or perhaps from the ritual of a nighttime skincare routine, helping us not only look after ourselves physically but also mentally as we slowly breathe in the delicious scent of a facial oil, purposefully massaging it over our face and neck, creating a mindful routine to help unwind before bed. No matter what is going on “out there”, you have an element of choice over what is going on “in here” – as in, your thoughts and therefore actions and habits. So, this January – the traditional time for resolutions – why not resolve to create small, regular, health-enhancing, mind-relaxing, happiness-boosting, spirit-uplifting, all-round life-affirming steps to a healthier, happier you? I truly hope you do, and that you find inspiration from this issue. May 2022 see you stronger in body, calmer of mind and fortified in spirit as you take control of your health, one step at a time.
