Artists turn to painting with mouth and feet after injuries, with one Chicago artist’s work featured on a holiday card

The image, fronting one of the Mouth & Foot Painting Artists’ 2021 holiday cards, was created by Chicago artist Mariam Paréby creating strokes with her teeth, something she learned to do after a bullet severed her ability to hold a paintbrush.

She was a 20-year-old working toward an art degree in 1996
