Q BATHROOM FLOORING
We are renovating our bathroom and need the floor to be safe for a multi-generational household with young children and elderly parents. What flooring is a good option?
A A multi-generational bathroom will require a slip-resistant floor that can withstand frequent splashes during children’s bath time. Rubber, vinyl and luxury vinyl tiling (LVT) are softer underfoot than tiles, hard-wearing and withstand water well, making them good go-to options in this instance.
LVT comes in a variety of finishes, including those which emulate the look of stone and wood. However, you’ll need to ensure the subfloor is properly prepared before installing LVT. Rubber is good from a maintenance and comfort point of view, but for a multi-generational bathroom make sure you choose one with a high slip resistance rating. Claire Lloyd
Q KITCHEN WORKTOPS
I love the look of quartz but it’s too expensive for our budget. Is there a cheaper alternative?
