□ A set of 3.25mm double-pointed needles (DPNs)

□ A set of 3.75mm DPNs

□ A 3.75mm circular needle, 40cm long

□ Stitch markers

□ Waste yarn

□ Stuffing (approx 85g)

□ Scraps of white and black felt for eyes

□ Small crochet hook or tapestry needle

□ Black and white embroidery cotton

□ White waste yarn or scrap of white felt for teeth

□ 10cm dowel for Ja q’s neck (optional)

□ Sewing needle and white thread

TENSION

23 sts and 30 rows to measure 10x10cm (4x4in) over st st using 3.25mm needles

Jaq’s height 20cm (8in) Gus’s height 18cm (7in)

ABBREVIATIONS

LR1 (lifted right inc) Lift right leg of the st below the next st on the lefthand needle onto the left-hand needle and knit it BOR Beginning of round

JAQ AND GUS MICE

Notes Gus and Jaq are worked in the round and in sections. Everything but their ears, shirt (jacket for Jaq), and tails are worked all in one piece. Work begins at the neckline and proceeds downward through the body. Live stitches are set aside for the arms, left leg, nose, and hat, then placed back onto the needles to work later.
