A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF ACADIA NATIONAL PARK
"It’s so beautiful, I’m afraid I might cry.” I was standing on Acadia’s iconic Sand Beach with my sister, watching the sunset colors dance around us. Her words described my thoughts exactly. It was her first time seeing Acadia, and although I had visited heaps of times, I knew what she meant. You may have even experienced it yourself—Acadia magic.
Having access to breathtaking coastlines like this, as well as magnificent mountain trails and the untouched wilderness, changes something inside of us. I would offer that, when the conditions are right, it’s even changed destinies and life paths; it’s certainly changed mine. Today, I’m standing on the other side of the park, and I can see four mountain peaks in the distance, all of which I can hike for the price of an Acadia National Park Pass. Those peaks lie atop mountains that become a part of my story and my family’s story every time
