All About Foliage

While some begonias are grown for their flowers, with others, it’s all about the foliage. Cane, trailing, rhizomatous and rex begonias have a huge range of leaf colors, patterns, shapes and textures that will keep your windowsills or shady garden spots looking fabulous.

Also called angel wing begonias due to their wing-shaped leaves, cane types have an upright habit that doesn’t branch and jointed stems that look a little like bamboo., have polka-dotted foliage. Others, such as ‘Mme. de Lesseps’ in photo 4, have more irregular markings. Color varies from green to burgundy and the edges are smooth or lobed.
