The value of pollinators for seed production

Recent studies show that many pollinator species have decreased in number, with some having even gone extinct.

In a new study led by researchers from Stellenbosch University, scientists were able, for the first time, to quantify the role that pollinators play in the seed production of flowering plants.

The decline in pollinator numbers might cause plants that do not rely on these insects, such as many problematic weeds, to spread even more.
