Take root cuttings of anemones

Root cuttings are best taken when plants are fully dormant, and December is an ideal month to do this. At Beechgrove I’m taking cuttings of Japanese anemones, because despite their usual vigour and keenness to spread, they are being outcompeted by nearby phlox, from which root cuttings can also be taken.
