Back in the early 1960s, speed record pioneer Tony Brookes took a 105E — equipped with Ford’s racy £13 Performance Kit — to Montlhéry, juiced the tank, put his foot down, and didn’t stop until he’d achieved six world records, driving 20,000 km over seven days and nights at an average speed of 83.47 mph.
