SPOUTED BOTTLE FORM

DIFFICULTY RATING

You will need:

900g (2lb) clay to make a form 24cm high

Clay can be earthenware or stoneware – white or coloured, as preferred

Tools for throwing – water bowl; sponge, including a version on a stick; cutting wire; batt; ribs – wooden and metal

Surface decoration as preferred

Before you begin:

Prepare the clay by kneading it well to remove any trapped air, then form it into a rough cone shape.

Throw a pad for a batt (unless you have a quick fix mechanism on your wheel), then fix the batt to the wheel head, thumping it with your fist to secure it in place once centred.
