A TWIN for two!

It’s pretty rare for a customer of a motorcycle to become more closely associated with the model than its designer or company owner. But that’s the case with the Brough Superior SS100, which will forever be associated in the minds of enthusiasts of that era of bikes with T.E. Lawrence, better known to film fans as Lawrence of Arabia. Among other things, Lawrence was a seriously skilled rider and inveterate speed hound who owned seven Broughs in succession, and who’d think nothing of leaving work on a Friday night aboard his SS100, returning on Monday morning with the back tyre worn down to the canvas and 2000 extra kays on the clock.

Lawrence’s affiliation with the marque has been a constant theme of the ongoing relaunch of Brough Superior, which kicked off in 2015 when production of the first new Brough for 75 years commenced. This came after the owner of the Brough Superior trademark, Austrian-based Brit Mark Upham, had licensed French designer Thierry Henriette to create the all-new SS100 which made its public debut at the 2013 Milan Show to mark the 90th anniversary of the model’s introduction.
