Sir RKJ’s cooking

ir Robin Knox-Johnston’s pot mess recipe (, Summer 2021) made me nostalgic. I have fond memories of his famous bully beef curry dish. There was a time when my friends called me an opportunivore and hid their lunchboxes, but those days are sadly gone, and my stomach is less tolerant now. I have always admired RKJ, but if he still relishes his pot stew, then my respect knows no bounds. Another favourite recipe was John Guzzwell’s Trekka Stew. Cook potatoes, carrots and onions in a pressure cooker for 30 minutes, add a can of meat, baked beans, a spoonful of Marmite, and a little flour to thicken it.
