I have used Irish Spring soap in my cars in Vermont in the winter as a deterrent to mice. I have cut the bars up and put them on paper plates on the engine. Invariably, when I returned to put the cars on the road in the spring, I would find mouse poop all over the paper plates and the pieces of soap chewed up.
