5tbsp brandy, whisky or rum
80g (2½oz) butter, softened
75g (2½oz) light muscovado sugar
2 medium free-range eggs
Zest of 1 orange
½tsp mixed spice
90g (3oz) plain flour
½tsp baking powder
200g (7oz) marzipan
Apricot jam, warmed for glazing
Writing icing, to decorate You will need:
