The Prize Pony

Sure, Pete Schmid could’ve built the Butternut Yellow Camaro restomod on these pages. He’s an accomplished fabricator with numerous hot rod projects to his credit, including the full-tilt Pro Street 1953 Willys Aero on the cover of our November 2020 issue. But Pete didn’t create this Camaro. As luck would have it, he won the car in a contest conducted by the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association about three years ago. As part of the jackpot, Pete also gained a friendship with the car’s builder — a guy from a younger generation of hot rodders and customizers, but definitely a kindred spirit.
