EDITORIAL

In the first issue of for 2021, I can’t help but dwell on 2020. The world as we know it has changed. The industry as we and , I have come across this issue again and again. As an editor, as a writer and an awards coordinator in our industry, I am committed to highlighting, celebrating and promoting diversity in all its forms across all my platforms, but I know there is more that I can do, that I need to do. In this, I cannot thank the Melbourne interior designer Brahman Perera, journalist Hayley Curnow and all the designers, photographers and artists featured on pages 60-69 enough for sharing their experiences and for guiding me through the first steps of transforming a steadfast commitment into an actionable plan. I hope I will not be alone in this in 2021. As Perera writes, “Australian design is on the world stage. I can’t express overtly enough the need for representation to be a true reflection of Australia’s multicultural demographics and history.” We can, in our small way, all be part of this journey.
