REpercussion Drums Steinbeck Flyer Kit

“ONCE AGAIN, FIRMER STRIKES ARE REQUIRED TO COAX THE FULL TONE FROM THE DENSE STAVE SHELL, RESULTING IN A WARM YET FOCUSED ATTACK.”

PRICE: £3,975

If only wood could talk” seems to be the motto of British drum builder Andrew Johnston. Based in Glastonbury and founded just five years ago, Andrew runs REpercussion Drums, where he specialises in creating stave drums – each one with a hell of a backstory.

In the past, the boutique company has offered drums crafted from 5,000-year-old bog oak, beams from the famous San Quentin prison and even an old cider press (fantastically named the Scrumpy Series).

Andrew’s all-consuming quest for the ultimate reclaimed wood saw him travelling in 1940. The result is the aptly named Steinbeck Flyer Kit.
