What You Need To Know
1 Haven’t we seen this before?
Back in issue 491 we ran a Blueprint feature with Seth detailing the backstory and design process of this new model. But caught up in the demise of UK Guitar Builders (UKGB), the Argonaut didn’t make our review pages. Now it has.
2 Who’s making Seth’s guitars now?
Although the UKGB team-build Shoreline was very well received, Seth never stopped making his own custom one-offs in his workshop in Cornwall. So he’s now doing exactly that again – albeit with some help.
3 So what’s the deal with that baritone then?
Seth is a custom maker and offers a wide choice of no-charge and upcharge options. For example, you can order an Argonaut Classic with a standard 648mm (25.5-inch) or Jaguar-style 610mm (24-inch) scale length, both designed for standard tuning, or with the longer 728mm (28.65-inch) scale turning it into a drop-tuned baritone. The options are huge. If you can imagine it, Seth will probably be able to make it for you.
As Tom Petty once sang: ‘The waiting is the hardest part” – and we know what he means. Seth Baccus was due to send us his new solidbody electric nearly a year ago and, finally, not perfectly packaged boxes arrived. Inside was a pair of brand-new beauties that do that time-warp thing of looking like they were crafted decades ago. But these aren’t reliced; they’re too classy for that.
