PIG IN THE CITY

Things you will most likely see in Sandton: a Bentley; mansions; a lot of taxis; CEOs in suits and their wives shopping... But one thing you don’t expect to see is abushpig.

However, that is exactly what residents of this affluent suburb in Johannesburg recently saw. The pig was roaming the streets for a few days and since bush-pigs are not really cute and cuddly (they are strong, stocky with coarse hair and can weigh up to 90 kg), the authorities were quickly called.

That’s when avet, a wildlife hospital and an animal welfare organisation stepped in.
