There are plenty of Volvo F10 and F12s on the heritage scene, yet they remain very sought-after and still command ‘top dollar’ to buy, regardless of condition. Serial truck preservationist Richard Thomas has two – a Mk 1 ‘Flat roof’ and Mk 2 version, which broke cover in late 1983 and started to sell the year after.
Technically he owns four F10s, but one is a pile of scrap sat on a trailer but yielding valuable parts both to Richard and other F10 owners, and another recently-acquired ex-shunter that, while it starts and can even move under its own power, is, pretty much, past all redemption!
Add in a FH12.420, Version 1 – which Richard still works – and an F88.240, which is the current restoration project, it’s fair to say Richard likes his big Swedes. And he even had a day cab F7 – as featured
