For it was from a secret camp high off the island of Pulau Panjang and from there launched two-man collapsible canoes and paddled more than 20km through darkness into the heart of enemy territory. In Singapore Harbour they attached delayed action limpet mines that resulted in the sinking of seven Japanese ships. It is considered one of the most daring and successful seaborne raids in military history. The MV and all the men returned safely, and the boat is now in the Sydney Maritime Museum.
