LESLIE HOWARD 1893–1943

Leslie Howard served as a second lieutenant in the Northamptonshire Yeomanry in the First World War, married Ruth Evelyn and had twoby Sir Arthur Pinero, and he continued to star in plays as well as films. In 1936 Howard was the male lead opposite Norma Shearer in MGM’s , and after appearing in (1939) directed (1942) in which he played RJ Mitchell, the designer of the Spitfire.
