Rarely has the inclusion of an event on a British Rally Championship calendar caused so much debate – even the appearance of Oulton Park on the schedule this year sparked less fury.
It’s certainly not unfair to say that the Mull Rally was a controversial stop on the BRC’s national tour in 2021, but now that the rally is done and dusted the lingering question is: was it worth it?
You could be rather dismissive about this one and immediately just say ‘no, Mull didn’t work for the British Rally Championship,’given that this week we have news of a 2022 BRC calendar, and Mull isn’t on it. ButArctic Rally Finland was a success in the World Rally Championship this year, and that’s not in the 2022 calendar. So this is no way to judge the merits of the BRC heading to Mull for the first time.
