Bridge bashing, in-filling and other sad tales...
My lament for the loss of Crumlin and Belah viaducts in last month’s ‘Comment’ coincided with a particularly worrying news story. It seems that Highways England, having taken over responsibility for redundant railway bridges from the railway authorities (latterly Network Rail) had produced a ‘hit-list’ of bridges it proposes to destroy or block up.
