IN 2019, DOCUMENTARY Horror Noire: A History Of Black Horror explored how the African-American experience was portrayed in horror films, and how, historically, black characters were rarely used in the genre unless they were relegated to blaxploitation films or used as support for white characters. But with hits like Night Of The Living Dead (1968), Candyman (1992) and (2017), the doc asserted that horror is a potential goldmine of under-serviced stories.
