You’ve probably heard of Staten Island, one of the five boroughs that make up New York City.
Separated from the mainland on the New Jersey side by tidal channels, it looks over the US city from across New York Bay.
With a population of less than half a million it is the least populated of the boroughs, but those 500,000 live in a piece of real estate covering little more than 58 square miles, roughly a third of the size of the Isle of Wight.
There are, however, plenty of green areas and a thriving wildlife population, including white-tailed deer.
