FIREBLADE VERSUS SANDSTORM

IT’S BEEN MORE THAN A YEAR SINCE I reviewed Century’s Fireblade and the Daiwa Sandstorm 1422, and I’m pleased to say that both rods continue to perform beautifully.

Apart from a few stone scratches, both remain presentable with rings and fittings all intact. The Sandstorm’s shiny lacquered blank has marked a little more than the Fireblade’s matt uncoated finish, but that is to be expected.

The pair are aimed squarely at all-round beach work with 150-175g lead weights, 0.35mm mono or braid equivalents and a bias towards multiplier reels. They are happy with off-ground
